According to the requirements of the Electrical
and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD),
for fixed electrical installations in general
residential or commercial premises, if the
permitted load exceeds 100 amperes,
the installation must undergo inspection,
testing, and obtain a WR2 Certificate
at least once every five years.
The periodic inspection of communal fixed
electrical installations in buildings generally
includes the main supply switchgear, rising
mains, floor distribution boards and
sub-circuits, earthing systems, equipotential
bonding, etc. In newer building estates and
clubhouses, the communal fixed electrical
installations may also include main switchboards,
emergency generators, supply facilities for lifts,
fire protection equipment, water pump
installations, lightning protection systems,
and security equipment.
